THE HISTORY OF BIG BLACK DICK
It is believed that Big Black Dick was born of ‘Royal’ African parentage. French slavers gave him the name of “Richard Le Noir”. His French captors tossed Richard overboard near an unchartered Caribbean island.
He served for several years labouring in a sugar cane field where he learned the secret of how to turn sugar cane into the Caribbean’s finest rum. Recognizing his hard work and honesty, rumour has it he was awarded his freedom in the early 1700’s.
Once free, Richard – who was a dashing and handsome figure of a man, wearing a glorious bright purple velvet coat and as many as four pistols in his red silk sash – became known as Big Black Dick, the pirate.
After a successful career as a pirate, Big Black Dick retired to a more peaceful venture of making the best original pirate rum in all the Caribbean.
